Vermont Natural Coatings exists to bring better technology out of the lab and into the real world.
Researchers at the University of Vermont developed PolyWhey®, our proprietary technology, by studying how whey proteins could be polymerized to create exceptionally strong cross linking. In wood coatings, cross linking is what determines durability, chemical resistance, and long term performance. Traditional coatings have long relied on harsh chemicals, strong odors, and slow cure times to achieve durability. The discovery showed that polymerized whey proteins could outperform many traditional petroleum based binders without relying on toxic ingredients.
Our role has been to refine this technology, test it, and engineer it into products that apply easily, dry quickly, and perform under real job site and home conditions. Our finishes and coatings are designed to reduce harmful chemicals, minimize odor, dry faster, and deliver professional level results without compromise.
