Bob Goldstein: Sharing the Floor—Insights from Trade Magazines

Bob Goldstein, a second-generation flooring professional, has spent decades advancing the wood flooring industry through craftsmanship, education, and a steadfast commitment to sharing his knowledge. This collection highlights his lasting contributions to Wood Floor Business, where his technical articles have provided practical guidance and insight to professionals across the trade.

Bob Goldstein has worn many hats over the course of his career: second-generation flooring professional, dedicated educator, skilled craftsman, and trusted voice in the wood flooring industry. Based in Boca Raton, Florida, he has spent decades not only practicing his trade, but helping to elevate it—through teaching, mentoring, and writing.

Flooring is in Bob’s DNA. He grew up in the business, learning from his father before completing a union apprenticeship and launching his own contracting company in 1970. From early on, though, it was clear his ambitions extended beyond running a successful business. Bob set out to master the craft, promote it, and share what he learned with others. That drive—paired with deep technical expertise—defined his career. He spent more than a decade teaching flooring installation in Broward County’s vocational education program, followed by nearly 30 years serving as an NWFA instructor, ambassador, and technical resource. Along the way, he earned certifications in installation, sanding and finishing, and inspection, achieving every NWFA designation from Craftsman to Ambassador.

What truly distinguished Bob as an educator was his belief that knowledge is meant to be shared. At a time when many professionals guarded their expertise to stay competitive, Bob took the opposite approach. He believed that a trade unwilling to pass down its knowledge risks fading away. That same philosophy shaped his writing. Over the years, he authored more than 30 technical articles for leading industry publications, including Wood Floor Business, offering practical, experience-based insights to contractors, installers, and those just entering the field. These articles reflect that enduring commitment: clear, grounded guidance from someone who has devoted his life to the craft.
