A dozen contractors from all over the East Coast spent a week in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom to participate in an Expert Sand and Finish Class hosted by Norton Abrasives and Vermont Natural Coatings. The class was held from September 19-23, 2016 and catered to experienced contractors who wanted to learn about custom colors, stains and dyes, sanding different species of woods and parquets, hand scraping and other advanced techniques.
Attendees also experienced Vermont’s local food ecosystem with tours and visits to Caledonia Spirits, Hill Farmstead Brewery and more. A few even had the chance to stop in at the Cabot Cheese Visitor Center for a tour and cheese tasting!
Attendees included Scott Walker from Restoration Hardwood Floors in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, Joseph Shrewsbury from Mr. Sandman Hardwood Floors in Newark, Delaware, Mike and Katie Mathis from Classic Services in Medford, New Jersey, Ian Leslie from Casco Bay Hardwood Floors in Portland, Maine and Chris Yates and his great crew from East Wood Trading Company in Nantucket, Massachusetts.
Many thanks to those who helped make the class a success! Feature strips on the panels were provided by Log Power of Allentown, Pennsylvania, nail guns and cleats were provided by Primatech of Quebec, Canada and sanding machines were from Lagler North America.
In October, a sold-out Sports Floor Sand and Finish Class will be held in Hardwick, Vermont. There are still spots available for a Sand and Finish Class at the new Lägler North America training facility in Denver, Colorado in November.
